Meet the next generation of construction professionals!
Doug Gianforte spoke to students at University of Delaware’s Construction Engineering and Management program about working in the building industry and starting and leading a construction management company. Doug Gianforte has supported this program since its inception, donating time and supporting student summer research to help provide students foundational knowledge of construction engineering and the technical specifics of construction engineering and management.
Doug shares, “As a civil engineering student at UD, I finished a summer internship with DELDOT on a construction project as a field engineer and returned to ask my academic advisor why UD had no construction management or engineering courses. His answer: ‘Simple, construction is not an academic subject.’ I’m glad that UD has changed its thinking and I’m happy to support the program.”
Students had a number of interesting questions for Doug, such as:
“What factors did you consider when you decided you wanted to start your own business?
“How long was it before you knew your business would be successful?
“What are your biggest challenges?
On behalf of Gbuild, good luck to this class of rising construction leaders!
