The specially recognized job selected for this award is the “Purnell Hall Window Replacement – University of Delaware.”   This project replaced multi-floored antiquated single pane windows and the entrance system with energy efficient units.  The consultant’s quality requirements included removal of ACM and returned the building envelope to its original integrity.  The schedule required just-in-time delivery of materials for the floor-by-floor sequencing of the schedule to keep the building occupied and operational.  Further, replacement of all exterior fenestrations, including curtainwall, aluminum windows and doors, hollow metal doors and frames.  Concrete restoration also included and coating of all exterior concrete, power washing all brickwork and replacment of all interior heating/cooling fan coil units and associated faculty office renovations.  The job was originally scheduled to be completed over five months, but was compressed to three to accommodate University needs.

This award is presented annually in recognition of those projects which bring distinction, skill and integrity to the construction industry.   gBuild’s selected project qualified in the “$5 Million and Under” division.

“This seemingly simple window replacement project grew into a very complex construction process… To do all this work in that short of time was amazing.  Only the attention to detail and effort of all involved allowed this to happen.

“The collaboration of the Team resulted in a Project completed on time while exceeding design parameters with minimal change orders.”

… the tight schedule was maintained and not affected by changes.  Also, those changes were handled in an efficient and professional manner in every instance.
