Gbuild Construction Managers has been helping clients create dynamic work environments since our beginning in 2009.  Today, many of our corporate clients struggle with navigating the post-pandemic “return to the office.”

Employers are anxious for their employees to get back to the office for a number of reasons.  Gathering in person can help strengthen corporate culture, build camaraderie, increase collaboration, and encourage inter-office mentoring and support.

Meanwhile, employees appreciate skipping their commute in lieu of more free time, and sometimes find home to be a more efficient work environment without the distractions of the office.  Flexibility in work hours has been beneficial to many employees, as well.

The best solution may be a compromise, hinging on trust between employers and employees to allow freedom to complete tasks without constant oversight.  Hybrid or flex schedules – with, say, two days spent at home and three days in the office – can help employers offer the best of both worlds.  Task-oriented work can easily be performed at home, while collaborative, strategy-focused work may be better in person.

Building hoteling stations or touch-down areas can help accommodate employees who don’t spend every day in the office while reducing footprint and costs for employers.  Last year, Gbuild helped clients from different industries collaborate and share best practices with shifting to a hoteling office setup.

In addition, a flex environment potentially opens up a larger talent pool of job candidates and allows employers to invest their facility dollars in smaller, yet higher quality space.  Providing employee amenity spaces such as fitness, recreation and lounge areas can help bring some of the comforts from home back into the office.
